March Madness!

Every year our neighbors have a March Madness bracket competition on Yahoo. We take basketball seriously in this house, so we do a bracket for each member of the house.

Really it's just more fun that way.

This year and last, Alex worked with Max to make his selections. He helped make sure that Max had at least a bit of a chance from the beginning, but the majority of the picks were Max's. Last year he didn't have much of an association with the schools or states, so it was more like an eye exam - "do you like 1 or 2...?".



Lately Max has become quite fascinated by geography and states. We tell him where Alex is traveling (which is pretty much each week, these days), and we look at a map to find the location if Max doesn't already know where it is.

Back to the bracket. This year Max was more interested in the state names and actually had a preference between some of the school match-ups. Not sure that his selections will correspond to the better basketball team, but that is not exactly all that important. The funniest part was when they got to the Western Region, including Louisville. Alex read the two team choices out to Max, and Max corrected his daddy on the pronunciation of Louisville - the big town outside of which Alex lived for 23 years of his life...
