On the way home from school each day, we drive along a road which runs parallel to Town Lake (recently renamed Lady Bird Lake). This body of water is actually the Colorado River, and this is of great interest to Max. You may recall, Dora the Explorer is one of Max's current favorites and the use of a "map" or at least predetermined route has been helpful to get us moving when motivation is in short supply.
On the way home from school last Thursday Max pointed out "the River" as usual, and at a stoplight I noticed just how fascinated he was by it. The weather was beautiful and the forecast was to be the same over the weekend, so I asked if he would like to go see "the River" this weekend with Dada and Nick. His response was affirmative, to say the least.
So after having breakfast at Grandad's house this morning, we made our way to "the River" and found a prime parking place. We started out at a scenic rest area, and then proceeded to walk along the trail in each direction for a short while. We have gone to the trail before with Max, but it's been a while and this was the first time he was not confined to a jogging stroller. Nick was strapped to my chest, he's not a fan of hanging in his infant carrier more than necessary right now.
Here is Max's first run on Town Lake, followed by some footage of him getting to check out the river up close (but not too close). As you will see, his running form is completely without discipline and he has much to learn as far as etiquette for running on the Hike and Bike Trail (stay to the right). But his enthusiasm and energy are truly awesome :)
