Our First "The Sac" Gathering!

In early May, we stopped by our then-future house to scout out tree limbs that might support a good swing.  We ended up meeting our first neighbors and started to realize that we were not only getting a great house, but an incredible set of neighbors and community to go with it.  As we were wrapping up our visit and preparing to head back to our old house, we were asked if we had plans for the 4th of July.  It was explained that the cul-de-sac across the street has an annual tradition to hang out and they were in the process of finalizing the date.  We replied that we were not going out of town and any time would be fine with us.

After several emails that outlined the party plans, we were very excited! The party did not disappoint.  Here are the highlights:

• 2 inflatable water slides
• 1 Kona Snow Cone truck (with a cooler positioned nearby with alcoholic addition options for the adults)
• 3 BBQ grills creating awesome dinner for all
• 2 fully charged ride-on vehicles
• stereo blasting out good tunes (Nick was overcome with the urge and had to do his Nick dance a few times)
• countless bikes, scooters, etc. for cruising around
• huge spread of yummy snacks, desserts, appetizers
• water balloon slingshot
• water balloon fight
• amazing summer shower (not planned, but with the drought conditions, much appreciated)
• kids' talent show
• fantastic fireworks finale

The boys LOVED the water slides.  Max ended up with an ear infection the next week, but he would tell you himself, it was TOTALLY worth it!

There were child-sized rides out on the Sac, and I learned that our Gator has the potential to go much faster.  I opted not to remove the "governor" until after the crowded party was over!  The girls across the street can really move in their blue jeep!  Nick is cruising with one and enjoying the ride.  Max let his buddy take the wheel and off they went!

The water balloon slingshot was a blast!  I was a little nervous at first, because most of the balloons were being launched in the direction of our house across the street.  But most, if not all, were landing in the street to the side.

A great time was had by all and we are looking forward to doing it again next year!
