We gathered the boys, loaded up in the rented minivan and headed East. After multiple toll charges and minimal whining in the backseat, we made it!
It was the first time either boy had experienced an ocean and we absolutely *loved* watching their reactions. They jumped the waves, gathered seashells and attempted to make sandcastles with the paltry tools we had (plastic cups from a stop at a gas station earlier that morning). Alex and I vowed to take the boys on another vacation that involves a beach, perhaps to the Texas coast, somewhat soon.
After stopping for lunch at a little place highly recommended by Yelp, we headed back on the toll roads to our home base.
After a nice nap, Nick stayed home to play with his cousins, Neeme and Pawpaw, and Max came with Mommy and Daddy to explore Disney Quest and Downtown Disney. Disney Quest is like a bigger and better Dave & Buster's, and Downtown Disney is like a boardwalk with restaurants, movie theater and shops. Not a bad way to have a little Max, Mommy and Daddy time.
Although he was not interest in the more adventurous interactive games, Max has a special place in his heart for skeeball. Disney Quest has skeeball. 8 glorious skeeball games in a row. There was a sign that requested that you limit your time playing, so everyone can play, so I watched and made sure that Max stepped back the few times that all the other games were in use. After a while he decided that if he lifted his leg and raised his arms after tossing the ball, he would improve his chances of getting a high score. It was so funny to watch him play and develop this little trick :). The lack of light made taking a clear picture impossible, but you get the idea.
