Aunt Becca's Summer 2011 Visit

Aunt Becca had planned to come for a visit the week after Max's 4th birthday, but she had some health concerns (all is well now!) and it was best for her to postpone her trip.

Aunt Becca is very special to Max (and Nick), and her arrival was MUCH anticipated. We counted down to it for weeks! When the day finally came, it would not do to simply drive up and pick her up at the curbside pick up. No no no. We HAD to go inside, to greet her in person instead. Max informed me on the way to the airport that he would be running to her, "80 miles an hour". So I made sure we were standing far enough back from the escalators, so he could get up to 80 MPH.

Her visits to Austin are always packed, with so many people to see and so many things to do with the boys!

We attempted to take Max to see his first movie in the theater, Cars 2. We talked about it for weeks, and there was much anticipation by everyone. We even met up with Cousin Ethan for Amy's Ice Cream just before showtime, and sat on the same row with him. But, alas, the movie had some "scary parts" and we decided to make a quiet exit after about 40 minutes (including the previews). That's okay, we'll try another movie later!

Later that evening, we went to dinner at a hip restaurant on South Congress, Hopdoddy, with many members of the Austin Hutcheson clan. It was tasty and fun!

And the boys were overcome by the urge to "get down" in response to hearing some great live music next door. I am SO glad I got this on film :)

The next day we went to the Children's Museum. The boys always have a blast here, and this was no exception!

Nick was all over the place, but strangely it is Grandad who is the blur in this picture!

And on her last day in Austin, we rode the Metro Rail again!

It was very difficult to say good-bye to Aunt Becca, but we look forward to seeing her again soon! Next time, Charissa may come too!
