When we arrived for Max's first swim lesson of the year he immediately stripped off his shoes and shirt and climbed into the pool. Great sign!
He did a great job, listening to Coach Valerie and (mostly) paying attention to her instructions. He seemed to pick up where we left off last summer and even agreed to wear the goggles - which he fought stubbornly last time.
There were two really funny moments:
1. Coach Valerie had Max reach for toys that were submerged under the water, positioned just deep enough that he needed to get his face in the water to grab them. After pulling out a Lightening McQueen, a Mater, and a Buzz Lightyear, Max pulled out a toy shark and exclaimed, "Hey! It looks like a cretoxyrhina!"
Coach Valerie looked at me with a very confused look on her face, and I explained that it is a dinosaur that looks like a shark. Thanks, Dinosaur Train!
2. A few minutes later Coach Valerie was telling Max that the next thing they would do together would be to "blow bubbles and then put the goggles in the water". She repeated the instructions a few times for emphasis (he seemed a little distracted), and he cried out, "Hey, that's a pattern!". Thanks Millie on Team Umizoomi, and her Pattern Power!
