On Sunday we took Max to see Thomas the Train!
We didn't hear about this exciting event until Friday afternoon, and it was too late to buy tickets in advance for any of the train rides. Hoping that the rainy and cold weather would work to our advantage, we headed out to the Burnet Community Center, about an hour northwest of town, for an encounter with Max's beloved Thomas.
Unfortunately the die-hard Thomas fans (all of whom appeared to be under 5) were not deterred by the inclement weather either. After quick consideration, we chose not to wait the three hours before an available train ride. Next year...
After getting our picture taken with Thomas and watching the 10:10 ride leave, we headed inside the Community Center to check out the vast gift shop offerings. It was as if the organizers of "Day Out With Thomas" knew the parents would be putty in the hands of their children, from watching the excitement on their little faces from merely being in the presence of Thomas. We were not immune, and walked away with a new choo choo, hat and t-shirt. Oh, and a few pictures taken by their photographer in front of Thomas. Totally worth it though :)

He wasn't even confused that Thomas goes backwards instead of forward!
